Reid May is a freelance sound designer, composer, and engineer based out of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. His 2017 design for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom with 1st Stage was nominated for Helen Hayes and BroadwayWorld Regional awards. Reid’s work also includes designs for The Second City, Barrington Stage Company, NextStop Theatre Company, The Hub Theatre, Edge of the Universe Players 2, Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions, Pallas Theatre Collective, Nu Sass Productions, George Mason University, and Montgomery College.
Since 2016, Reid has been working as a live sound and archival recording engineer at GMU’s 2000 seat Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts. He also earned a Bachelor's of Acoustic Media Studies and graduated with honors from GMU in 2015.
